Long-term allergy relief in just 3 treatments

Grand Rapids Allergy is proud to offer Intralymphatic Immunotherapy (ILIT), an innovative treatment for environmental allergies designed to deliver long-term relief in just three treatments.
Bottom Line
With ILIT, you could be 3 visits away from long-term relief. ILIT directly places allergens in a lymph node using ultrasound guidance. This procedure is very well tolerated with low risk of allergic reactions. Side effects may include local discomfort. Fast results are seen within weeks to a few months after the last dose, with one study showing 76 percent of patients still reporting benefits after 19 years.
A Faster Alternative to Allergen Treatment
Using ultrasound guidance to deliver allergen extract directly to a lymph node, this treatment is designed to retrain the immune system quickly and efficiently. A targeted approach requires fewer doses to provide long-term symptom improvement. Many patients notice improvement within one month of the 3rd dose, with maximal benefit attained over the next several weeks to months.
Traditional allergy shots and tablets remain excellent options for those who prefer an insurance-covered procedure and can commit to ongoing treatment over several years. ILIT is designed to offer a lower-burden option with three treatment visits over approximately 2 months. For busy patients looking for a streamlined path to long-term allergy relief, ILIT is an attractive choice.
Who It's For
ILIT is for anyone with time constraints, those who live long distances from an allergy office, or who feel their current allergy treatment plan could be improved. ILIT may also be an option for those with a history of previous reactions or intolerance to traditional allergy therapy, including injections. We are currently offering ILIT to patients aged 12 and over.
What to Expect
Your ILIT journey begins with a specialist consultation at Grand Rapids Allergy. We will review your history, confirm your allergies through testing, and develop individualized treatment. The QUICK-LI procedure includes three visits over 8 weeks. The allergen is injected into an inguinal lymph node, located in the crease between your hip and thigh, under ultrasound guidance followed by a 30–60 minute wait for safety. Most patients report a small pinch with few reporting any reaction at all.
Risks Involved
As with any injection, there is a risk of bleeding or infection. The ILIT procedure has minimal risk of severe reaction, less than typical allergy shots. We have anaphylaxis treatment on site should a reaction occur.
Preparing for ILIT
We recommend that you take your usual allergy medications on the day of your procedure. If you are on a beta blocker medication, be sure to share this information with your provider. It is recommended that you wear loose-fitting, dark clothing when you visit the office for your procedure.
