A Life Changing Development in Therapy for Patients with Food Allergies!
What is Xolair?
Xolair (omalizumab) is an established injectable medication with a new indication for food allergy.
In 2024, the FDA approved Xolair injection for management of Immunoglobulin E (IgE) – mediated food allergy in adults and children ages 1 year or older to reduce the risk of allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, which may occur with accidental exposure to one or more foods.
What is the goal of Xolair therapy for individuals with food allergies?
Xolair therapy is only intended to reduce the risk of allergic reactions; it does not treat or resolve food allergy and is to be used in conjunction with continued strict avoidance of food allergens.
Is Xolair an option for me or my child?
A discussion with a Grand Rapids Allergy provider is the first step to learn more and determine if Xolair is appropriate for you/your child. Please contact our office and speak with a clinical team member to arrange an in-person or virtual visit.
