Families with food allergy know that the need for food allergy awareness is great. Well-meaning friends and relatives often still don't "get it" after multiple explanations, and parents struggle to help teachers and caretakers understand the seriousness of the allergy.
Our very own Food Allergy Walkers from 2009 | This September, we'll be taking the message to the entire Grand Rapids community via our third annual Walk For Food Allergy Awareness. We need every single person touched by food allergy to come join us for this fantastic event. Imagine our city as a place where every teacher, daycare provider, in-law and neighbor actually understood what food allergies mean for the people who have them and their families. Help us make that a reality! WHAT: Walk for Food Allergy Awareness - plus games and prizes! WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 18th, 9:00am check-in WHERE: Johnson Park, 4799 Butterworth St. SW, 49534 QUESTIONS? Give our office a call any time: 616-949-4840 |

Website launched for allergy-friendly dining
A new website has been launched that will help people with food allergies and gluten intolerance find restaurants where they can comfortably dine. We have found AllergyEats to be both extremely user-friendly, as well as one of the most comprehensive databases available. The site offers a central location for user reviews of how well (or poorly) specific restaurants respond to people with food allergies or intolerances. The more that's shared, the more everyone benefits, be sure to add your own reviews while perusing all the great information. |

Be EpiPen-savvy this summer
All that great food at bar-b-ques, picnics and and campground canteens can look really tempting, but don't forget our mottos:
No Label? Not Worth It!
No EpiPen? No Eating!
When packing your EpiPen (or two), remember it is temperature-sensitive. Car temperatures can soar to over 130 degrees within hours on a 79 degree day! This can cause epinephrine to degrade, making it less effective when you really need it.
Take care of your EpiPen, so it can take care of you! |
